What You Need?
If it's your first time to do this, a kilogram of worms for every 500 grams of food wastes is the rough quantity of worms you will need. And if you are going to add those food wastes, make sure to bury them into the bedding material so that flies will not be attracted to them.
One thing you should pay attention is that never use meat, dairy products, orange or onion bits because they can just make your worm farm stinking and it can only cause unwanted pests and flies to attract through your worm farm.
Take note that worms like a moist place not wet. If it is dripping wet as well it can only cause a foul odor. To release the excess water and worm waste, you also need to have a tap at the bottom of your container. If needed, drain off the excess damp and do not add water or anything onto it, wait until the foul odor has gone.
If your worm farm still smells badly, well then most probably you fill it excessively. All you have to do is to wait until most of the wastes have rotten or have been eaten before putting in any further.
Now, you have all the facts about compost worms and how to make your own worm farm. Honestly, these little creatures are very functional and can be a source of fun when you are going to make this with your little kiddos. Above all as you do a worm farm, you are creatively helping our environment to be clean and green. You are in deed disposing your waste responsibly and that's the great thing with worm composting.
